I must admit that I thought last year was the year of the tablet after we kicked off 2010 unveiling the Dell Streak at CES and Apple created a storm (amidst some initial product naming controversy) with its iPad. Don’t get me wrong – I knew we’d see a lot more tablets at this year’s CES, but I really didn’t expect there to be 80 different tablets on show!
As...

According to some recent research, women with smartphones are nearly twice as likely as their male counterparts to have NEVER downloaded a single app. Apparently, this is because the choice of apps is overwhelming, the Apple App Store alone has more than 225,000 apps.
Now, I'm a woman (I appreciate that might take some of you who thought I was the famous 'Father and Son' singer...

Is it just me or are our beloved technology companies trying to own the alphabet? Not the whole thing –just a few individual letters.
The worst offender is of course Apple, with whom the letter “i” has become synonymous. But they are not alone…
IBM spent many a year attempting to dominate the letter “e” with constant refrain of e-business, e-servers...

The killer new feature of Apple’s MobileMe is the “Find my iPhone” where you can see in seconds exactly where your phone is. While I don’t believe all the stories of the baddies being nicked after mugging some poor victim, it does have a certain reassurance.
The most important thing is that it points to a future where crime – or at least petty theft –...

The superb What the F**K is Social Media – One Year Later that is doing the rounds and being religiously plagiarised has a one tiny, teensy, little problem. It seems to answer all the big questions about social media – the what, why, when and who – but somehow overlooks the really big one; the HOW.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love this presentation and will...

Back in August this year Fast Company wrote a fascinating cover story on how Nokia was going to transform itself from handset maker to an entertainment company. It all sounded so credible; add music and then video channels to the mobile UI and you redefine the humble mobile as rich media experience. It had the added benefit that through the wonders of mobile billing systems the artists,...

Swede v the act of recreating a popular film using only a limited budget and a camcorder ~n variety of turnip
Made famous by Be Kind Rewind, starring Jack Black, where Black’s character explains away the low budget remakes he’s renting out as imported films from Sweden. Sweding has since become a cult hit with amateur film-makers and YouTube is awash with people’s humorous...

Dead men walking… dead men walking. Well men, women and kids very soon. The latest phenomenum on London’s streets ( and I am sure replicated worldwide) is the rise of the Zombie. As you dash down the street, leap off the train onto the platform or hurtle through an underpass you are met with the slow menacing form of the Zombie… slothfully moving in painful steps they...

It seems that the computers of Digital Britain’s “Inclusion Team” have been nicked, razzled, tea-leafed, half-inched, mistakenly appropriated and just plain stolen. In a wonderfully ironic development, which makes you wonder if the thieves were possesed of a sardonic sense of wit, the laptops were lifted from the QUANGO’s Soho offices. In case you are wondering...

Christmas in July means that, for anyone working in consumer PR and marketing, when December comes we already feel like it has already happened.
But this year’s Christmas in July has left me feeling extremely positive after I had the pleasure of spending time with the (PRODUCT) RED team as we showed off the full Dell range at the Century Club on...
